Channel or group: which to choose
A quick decision guide — and what each type supports in TribeSync.
Updated: July 24, 2026
Both channels and groups can be sold through TribeSync when they're private. The difference is how people interact.
Pick a channel if…
You want a one-way feed: courses, signals, a content library, premium posts. Only admins post; members read. Moderation doesn't apply (no member chat).
Pick a group if…
You want a community: members talk to each other. You get paid access and moderation (filters, mutes, bans).
What TribeSync supports
- Private channel — paid access ✅ · moderation — not applicable (only admins post)
- Private group — paid access ✅ · moderation ✅
- Public group — moderation only ✅ (no paywall — free to join)
- Public channel — not supported
When you connect a chat, TribeSync reads its type. Private channels and groups get the full paywall; a public group is accepted only if you connect it for moderation only; a public channel is declined. This is enforced automatically the moment your bot becomes an admin.
